A working site depends on more than WordPress alone. Reviewing the environment helps us plan the move and identify work that needs attention first.
WordPress and its content
The database, media, theme, plugins and software versions. We identify known errors, compatibility concerns and the size of the site.
Current and destination hosting
The current provider, access and hosting limitations, plus what the destination needs to run the accepted site appropriately.
Domain and DNS
Where the domain is registered, who manages DNS and which records connect the site to its services. The right access matters before cutover.
SSL and secure access
How HTTPS is configured and what needs to be in place at the destination, including checks for certificate or mixed-content issues.
Business and website email
Where mailboxes are hosted, how domain email is routed and how the website sends forms or notifications. These can be separate systems.

Plan the website move around your email
If your email shares the current hosting account, a hosting change can affect more than the website.
DNS records tell the internet where to find the website and where to deliver domain email. Changing nameservers or closing the old hosting account without understanding those records can interrupt business mail.
We review the relevant email and DNS dependencies, clarify who controls each service and agree on any changes before the migration proceeds.
Keep the responsibilities clear
Website hosting, domain registration, DNS and email may be managed by different providers. A website move does not automatically transfer control of those accounts.
Mailbox moves need their own scope
If email also needs to move, we review the mailboxes, existing messages, users and destination separately. Email migration is not automatically included in a WordPress migration.
Keep the existing hosting and email services active until the agreed checks are complete and it is clear what can be retired.
HOW THE MOVE WORKS
From website review to a checked destination
Preparation, migration and cutover are coordinated around the site you actually run. Sites that receive orders, bookings or other live updates need a plan for those changes.
Review and agree
Begin with the Health Check. We assess fit, known issues and access, explain the findings, and agree on scope, costs and payment before scheduling the work.
Prepare the move
Confirm the destination, access, DNS and email responsibilities. Plan the cutover, safeguards and any content or order-handling arrangements needed for the site.
Migrate and switch
Move the agreed site and validate it at the destination before coordinating the switch. DNS and SSL changes follow the agreed scope and access arrangements.
Verify and manage
Check the live destination and agreed functionality after cutover. Resolve migration-related findings within scope, document any remaining work and begin agreed ongoing management.

Know what the move is intended to solve
Moving a website changes where it runs. It does not automatically repair everything that was already wrong. The review helps separate migration work from any preparation, repair or development the site needs.

You may be leaving an unreliable host, simplifying a complicated setup or looking for ongoing WordPress help. Start with your website address, current provider and the reason for the move.

More complex websites need an individual assessment
Ecommerce, membership, LMS, multisite, custom applications, high-traffic sites and heavily integrated websites may need custom scope and pricing. Feasibility depends on access, software condition, data and media size, security, email architecture and external services.

WORDPRESS MIGRATION QUESTIONS
Before you move your website
Will my website have downtime?
We plan the cutover to reduce avoidable disruption, but zero downtime is not guaranteed. DNS caching, the current host, access and the site’s functionality can affect the transition. Any expected interruption or pause in updates is discussed as part of the plan.
Will my business email move too?
Not automatically. We first establish where your email is hosted and how it is routed. Mailbox migration, existing-message transfer and changes to a third-party email service require separate review and agreed scope.
Do I need to transfer my domain?
A website migration does not automatically require a registrar transfer. We identify who manages the domain and DNS, what access is needed and which records must change. Domain or registrar transfers are not assumed to be included.
Should I cancel my current hosting now?
Keep it active while the move is planned and checked. The old account may still hold the website, mailboxes or other services you rely on. Confirm what can be retired after validation; avoid cancelling it simply because the new site appears online.
What access will you need?
The review determines the access needed to WordPress, the hosting account or site files/database, and relevant DNS or provider accounts. Tell us who manages them first. We will agree on an appropriate way to provide access; do not put passwords in the initial enquiry.
Will migration fix a slow, broken or compromised site?
Not by itself. A new hosting environment may address some hosting-related issues, but performance, malware, compatibility and custom-code problems can need separate work. We identify known concerns and explain whether remediation should happen before migration.
How much does it cost, and how long does it take?
Scope, cost and scheduling are confirmed after reviewing the site, access and dependencies. Complex functionality, large data sets, required repairs or coordination with another provider can change the work involved. This is not a fixed-price or fixed-turnaround transfer.
